Showroom
William P Corbett Showroom, Norristown, PA

In a former factory where stockings were manufactured for Union Soldiers during the Civil War, a 7,000 square foot space was converted to become a contract furniture manufacturer's showroom. Requirements included adherence to strict budget considerations with reuse of existing equipment or materials as possible, fireproofing of exposed wood surfaces, sprinkler installation, solution to uneven existing flooring and space planning for product display and retention of loft factory ambiance.

To solve the dilemma of highly uneven floors a combination of solutions was used to achieve stable display for rolling seating: standard contract carpeting was used where floors were the most level. Where floors were highly sloping, carpeted display platforms were constructed in addition to the re-use of existing industrial pallets which were painted black and framed with black painted PVC piping. All other flooring was refinished to add to the 1800's industrial ambiance.

Inexpensive sono-tubes were painted black and silk screened with manufacturer's logos and installed to define display areas.
