English Style House Renovation
The objective for this 1920's English style house was to create a light and airy ambiance in a home that had felt the brunt of years of neglect. In the living room, soft colors, inspired by a Dhurrie rug replaced dark, Masonite paneling and dingy paint. In a kitchen niche, every inch counts in a closet converted to a colorful storage alcove.
The addition, accommodating the family room and the master bedroom, has a curved glass wall and a two story glass atrium which take advantage of forest and river views. A vaulted ceiling in the master bedroom repeats the lines seen in the living room with the floor-to-ceiling windows in the family room visible from the loft-like overlook of the master bedroom. A trapunto-embellished judo jacket framed on the wall has become a work of art. Low scaled furnishings and the repetition of the living room's soft colors emphasize the spacious feel.
